About the NAC forum and how to join

Welcome to the National Amyloidosis Centre Patient Forum.


About the forum

Amyloidosis is a rare disease and most people have never heard of it. The purpose of this forum is to provide a channel for patients with amyloidosis, family and carers from all over the UK to communicate with each other. We hope that you find it helpful to connect with other people in similar situations to yourself.

How to join the forum

The forum can be viewed by anyone but only registered members can write posts. To join, please register. if you have already registered then log in so that you can join the forum discussions. If you have privacy concerns, then you might like to choose a pseudonym for your username and don't share personal details in your posts.

Amyloidosis online

Amyloidosis is a rare disease and most people have never heard of it. If you or your family member have amyloidosis you might find it helpful to talk to other patients and their families on this forum.
Much information about amyloidosis is available on the internet.  Some of it is alarming and much of it can be confusing.  There are many different types of amyloidosis. Each type has different causes, different symptoms and different treatments.

About the National Amyloidosis Centre
The National Amyloidosis Centre (the NAC) is part of the University College London (UCL) Division of Medicine and is situated at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. The NAC has been at the cutting edge of treatment and research into all aspects of amyloidosis for over 25 years and has been responsible for the UK national caseload of amyloidosis since 1999. The NAC is a highly specialised NHS clinical service funded by NHS England to provide a diagnostic service for amyloidosis patients throughout the entire UK.
