My friend and fellow AL sufferer Jo Jerden, now fit in remission  and NAC Lead Nurse Thirusha Lane,  have teamed up to tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in April 2017. They will be joined by some of Jo's friends and family, as well as other clinical and lab staff from the NAC and the wider UCL Centre for Amyloidosis and Acute Phase Proteins (CAAPP). See photo below.

They have a specific goal to raise much needed funds  to replace vital equipment used in the NAC diagnostic laboratory, and to purchase new equipment which will improve efficiency for clinical care and research.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge includes the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough (usually in that order), and the NAC/UCL team is aiming to complete the trek in under 12 hours.  These three peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24 miles (38.6 kilometres) long, and includes  5,200 feet (1,585 metres) of ascent.

Once you donate, ( link below)  your money goes directly into NAC Fund. Remember it is not necessary to know the fundraisers personally to support their venture.  Thirusha and David Hutt who supervises our SAP scans is also a member of the team, are familiar faces to us during our visits to the NAC. The new equipment will benefit ALL of us and improve diagnostic testing for new patients.
