Serrapetase for Amyloidosis
« on: June 15, 2017, 12:21:19 pm »
Thank you for welcoming me to this group.
I am a concerned daughter for my Dad Hugh who was diagnosed yesterday with Amyloidosis after a lung biopsy. We are awaiting test dates so we can confirm the exact type. Symptoms so far include a large mass on the wall of his chest and other tumours in his lungs. They've grown between CT scans in a two week period!! Ahh! I am trying to understand more about this condition and appreciate it is very complex! So...I'm determined to educate myself as much as I can so I can help boost his morale and fight this with him.
Something seems to be coming up a lot - Serrapetase you may have already heard of this if you've been reading up on how to dissolve proteins and scar tissue in the body. Has anyone tried this?

Hi Louise, welcome to the forum.
Serrapeptase is not recommended for amyloidosis; there is no evidence for efficacy.
Unfortunately there is a lot of misleading and inaccurate information about amyloidosis on the internet.
Also different types of amyloidosis are very different different illnesses and are treated differently. So before your father has a definite diagnosis of the type of amyloidosis, any reading you do about amyloidosis may turn out not to be relevant for his case, and may cause unnecessary worry.
If you decide that you do want to read about amyloidosis, then I recommend that you take a look at our NAC patient information, while bearing the above in mind - we have a patient information site - http://www.amyloidosis.org.uk/ and patient information leaflets - http://www.ucl.ac.uk/amyloidosis/nac/patient-info-leaflets and NAC newsletters - http://www.ucl.ac.uk/amyloidosis/nac/newsletters
