24hr urine collection container
« on: April 04, 2017, 09:29:25 am »
Hi everyone,
My father was diagnosed with amyloidosis the end of Feb,
He has an appointment to attend London on the 19th April, and told to get a container for a 24hr urine collection, can anyone help us as to where we can get one of these from?
I've tried all our local chemists and the doctor but not having any luck.
Thank Simone

Hi Simone,
Welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry to hear about your father's diagnosis.
Contact Eleanor Pyart (NAC Senior Clinic Co-ordinator) on 020 7433 2738 for help with this.

Hi Simone
For my first two appointments I used well rinsed 2 litre cola bottles. They did the job!
Best regards
David

Hi simone,
I used a 2 litre milk bottlee for my first appointment, but the coke bottles seem a better solution as the tops fit tighter, for your second visit I was given a proper container to use on my departure day.
hope this helps and good luck
regards

Andy.

I just rang my Dr's surgery and they checked the type of container needed with the NAC. They will obtain one for me to collect in a few days.

Ann,

It might be as well to ask for two containers. I have always needed both, although I do drink quite a lot. I don't know if height has any bearing on it but I am only 4'10".

Ask your local surgery for container and also a urine sample bottle.  Collect the 24 hour or 48 hour samples then fill the small bottle.  I had the same worry, was flying down from Edinburgh and thought I had to take the big container with me.
